GREEN MORTGAGES

What are green mortgages and how do you get one?

Whilst there is no universal definition of a ‘green mortgage’, they are generally regarded as those through which homeowners receive better mortgage deals for trying to improve the energy efficiency of their home or for the purchase of an already energy efficient property.

Typically you may be considering the retrofit of a renewable energy measure, upgrading your property’s insulation, installing a composting toilet or having a car charging point installed. If so, you will probably need a mortgage to raise cash to help you make your property more energy-efficient, sustainable and cost effective to run. This could be classed as a green mortgage. If you already know how much you want to borrow, please speak to our advisors today and we will be able to provide you with an illustration without obligation.

Alternatively, some lenders will provide you with a green mortgage if you’re buying an energy efficient property.
